The Vélodyssé® or the V1
If you are adventurous looking for a unique route lasting several days to discover the French west coast, the Vélodyssée® is the route for you. This is the French part of EuroVelo 1 linking Roscoff to Hendaye. It represents 400 km of marked routes along the ocean coastline linking Roscoff to Nantes, allowing you not only to discover Finistère, but also Morbihan, the Côtes d’Armor and Loire-Atlantique.
The Carhaix-Plouguer – Pontivy section of the Vélodyssée®
If the 400 km of the Vélodyssée® scare you, you can always opt for a much smaller and accessible section like that from Carhaix-Plouguer towards Pontivy. This lovely 75 km route accompanies the progression of the canal from Nantes to Brest, the emblem of inland Brittany. All along the way, you can discover some unmissable places such as the Glomel trench and Guerledan lake. Duration: 4h 10.
The Brest – Pointe Saint-Mathieu section of the V45 (La littorale)
Departing from Brest, set off to explore western Finistère up to Pointe Saint-Mathieu and the port of Conquet, via Plouzané and Locmaria-Plouzané! This 25 km route begins in a peri-urban area, then continues largely along the Breton coastline to the destination, passing by the beaches of Trégana, Portez and Porsmilin. Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes.
The Bénodet – Pont-l’Abbé section of the V45 (La littorale)
From Bénodet, cross the Odet, then go all the way south towards Kermor beach. Then take the coastal path to Ile-Tudy. Board the ferry to Loctudy and finally go back up to Pont-l’Abbé! This 18 km route combines river, land and sea for unmissable landscapes, a 15-minute drive from your luxury accommodation at the Kervastard campsite in South Finistère. Duration: 1 hour.
The Concarneau – Rosporden section of the V7
To discover the nature and unmissable landscapes of the surrounding countryside of Concarneau, opt for a short bike ride from Concarneau to Rosporden! This pretty 21 km course, well shaded in the countryside, is part of route 7 Brittany which links Concarneau to Roscoff. Duration: 1h30.
The Roscoff – Morlaix section of the V7
From Roscoff to Morlaix, over 32 km, venture north of Finistère, a 1h30 drive from the Nature & Résidence Loisirs Le Kervastard campsite! You can discover Roscoff, this seaside resort rich in history and predominantly Gothic architectural treasures. Not far from Roscoff, discover Saint-Pol-de-Léon, a small town of character on the banks of the Channel which was the historic capital of the bishopric of Léon. Also enjoy the numerous beaches and small charming hamlets all along the way to Morlaix, the port city par excellence. Duration: 2h06.
The Quimper – Douarnenez section
If the Douarnenez region intrigues you, set off to explore it from Quimper via the greenway set up by the Finistère Departmental Council on an old railway line linking the 2 towns! By bike or on foot, this beautiful 20 km route towards the sea offers a hilly and rural landscape that appeals to both young and old. Duration: 1 hour.
